Otaku: Photography as Narrative
In 2018, we had the pleasure of working with photographer Helmut Giersiefen. An artist and a storyteller, he goes by ‘Otaku’—someone who obsessively exerts resources into his hobby or interest. His inaugural book Latitude 43 captures the story of the architectural marvel Latitude 43 in Saint-Tropez, France, through captivating photographs and his own words.
Nancye Green and Kevin Braine sat with Helmut to talk about his work—how he uses photography as a door into a story, his passions, what he is driven to capture, and the process of designing the book.
